I'm sorry to share the news that David's Mac laptop has 'died'. He's in Quincy, Illinois tonight, and managed to find a Mac. repair shop this afternoon, and received the news. He's going to make a call Monday and see if it's possible to have another Mac laptop over-nighted.
They crossed the Mississippi river today, and David has stories and photos he was looking forward to sharing...I'm sad he won't be able to post, and hope he can secure another laptop so we can continue to enjoy his adventure.

Noooooo, I live for his daily posts! And what the heck is he using a Mac for?!!!
Mike, Literally ALL! professional photographers use Mac.
I live to see his smiling face daily...
S.O.S. to all David's photo buddies, (you know who you are)...David needs a loaner. He uses Photoshop to size the photos.
Oh my gosh... I'm already encountering severe withdrawal symptoms. Bummer!
Now I'll have to read the dang paper till he gets a new computer.
I am so bummed.
Oh no! How can we help here in Pennsylvania? We're following every mile of your journey, David. As to the cycling, we echo the Irish blessing, 'May the road rise to meet you, May the wind be always at your back...' with emphasis on its closing line.
Thanks, Katie, for letting us know the problem. Hope this does not spoil a minute of his journey for him. We have all enjoyed the account but mostly I have been enjoying his joy in participating in the trip! Good luck all the way around and love to both of you, Aunt Lucy
Katie, probably best not to start a post with the words "I'm sorry to have to share the news..." when your husband is on a cross country biking trip. After I restarted my heart, I was glad to hear that it was just a dead computer. Of course, I may have seen this differently given my recent biking history!?
He needs a new MacBook... pronto!!!!
I just talked to David, they are in Springfield, Illinois tonight.
Had to share a funny story...Mike the ride leader has nicknamed David, Rob and Jud 'The Hammerheads'...Cyclists know why, but it's because they hammer it, and are always the first to arrive at the days destination.
This morning the group met with Mike before breakfast, and the plan was for everyone to ride their bikes to breakfast. Mike said he was going to delay the 'Hammerheads' start by thirty minutes. The three of them decided they didn't like the nick 'Hammerheads', and in typical David and Rob fashion, (Jud is the straight man in this comedy team)....They announced they'd prefer to be called 'The Poodle Boys'....
They were held back thirty minutes, and Mike just shook his head and laughed when they were still the first to arrive at breakfast.
Elsie, (my sister and David's sister-in-law)...The Irish blessing is apt...
May the road rise
to meet you.
May the wind be
always at your back.
May the sun shine
warm upon your face,
the rains fall soft
upon your fields and,
until we meet again,
may God hold you in
the palm of His hand.
Elsie, it is in a frame on my desk....Great minds think alike!
Thanks for the update. I'm Jud's sister and have been following his progress through David. I hope he is able to get back on line!
If so, say "Hi,and be careful!" to Jud for me!
Thank you Katie, for the update and the great story.
This is sort of funny - I have found myself logging on to David's blog, seeing the "Uh-Oh..." title and promptly scrolling to the comments link.
We are so bummed that David does not have a computer! If I were a Mac person I would have driven up to Springfield yesterday and given him my laptop, but I only have an HP tablet. We are missing the posts tremendously. We are friends of Rob's and anxiously wait to see the posts everyday from both Rob and David. Holly & Mike
How long will "this diet" last?
How long until I get to see more dessert pictures?

David:
I nearly called my "friends" and got the Concord out to get you a new MAC....What an inspiration you and your fellow riders are.....
Best of luck from over the water (Not the mighty MO though!)
Bridgit
Not to worry! David should be posting soon enough. I have a new laptop on its way....He will have it tomorrow waiting for him when he checks in.
I too am addicted to reading this, even while I was on vacation, I had to keep up.
Had to get a login so I could pass on this very important update from my end!!!
Many, many thanks to G.D. and crew for responding asap! G., thank you for your thoughtfulness throughout this journey. I'm appreciative, and I know David is too!
All good things,
Katie
Gene and Paulette...thanks so much for that good news (about the replacement Mac!). I can't wait for the updates too. I can vouch for Paulette reading the blog during her vacation 'cause we read it together one day! :) Have a great "rest of the trip!"
