Day 29 Batavia,NY to Liverpool,NY (Syracuse) 121 miles

Only 3 more days left! I can almost smell the Atlantic Ocean! I sure do miss Katie and can't wait to see her again!

Another cold start this morning...39 degrees. It only got into the 60's, but stayed sunny all day. A stark contrast to yesterday!
Rob, Judd and I rolled out last this morning along with Team Europe. After an early flat in Team Europe...we rolled slowly ahead. Apparently, there was a multiple flat problem and we never saw them again until the first SAG at mile 36. We were still the second to the last group...with everyone else out in front. We were definitely not in a hurry today! After SAG we only passed a couple of other riders. Not until the lunch SAG did we even see the others...and only as they were leaving. It was nice to take it easy today. I think the slower pace helped my ribs and back today. I want to be really strong for Wednesday & Thursday. We rolled thru some more beautiful little towns and the boys had fun sprinting to the city limit signs. I actually snuck a couple wins of my own in today. I've enjoyed downplaying their wins with "go ahead...take advantage of a crippled old man" (me). I'll give them a run for their money in the final couple of days!

Huge thanks to Rob for working on my back and ribs last night! It hurt like crazy while he was doing it...but it did the trick. I could stand to pedal today and the pain wasn't nearly as bad as the last few days.

Got a haircut in Liverpool and had the usual response of amazement from the owner and patrons when they heard what we've been doing. Dinner tonight at the Colorado Mine Co. I was in the mens room when someone (guess who) started signing "You ain't nothin' but a hound dog..." over the intercom. Dining out with Rob is always an adventure!

We've got an early start in the morning...with a Denny's breakfast at 5:30A...woohooo!

Gotta get some sleep.

Breakfast was scheduled for 6A...do you think this group is ready to eat? Check the clock!

Glad I found out...even more glad I have already spent the month "celebrating"!

A beautiful Upstate New York road

and...another!

I can't believe it. Only 3 days left. Finish up strong. Ignore the ribs. Then come and get your well deserved nap in Katie's arms. Look forward to following the Dave-train after you wake up.
